For the past 5 years, the Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter, with the help of volunteers and the community at large, has been successful in providing emergency shelter to those that are in need during the coldest nights of the winter.
After much deliberation, prayer, and consideration to safety concerns for our guests, volunteers, and community, this year our efforts to serve the homeless will be different. So, instead of opening the shelter in their physical locations, during the COVID Pandemic, our goal is to meet the needs of the less fortunate by providing the following items/services to include, but not limited to:
-
Making up survival bags (filled with space blankets, socks, toiletries, etc.)
-
Provide gas cards (for those living in cars)
-
Provide shower cards
-
Provide transportation assistance
-
Consider alternative sleeping arrangements
-
Volunteers will be manning our phone to personally answer questions and connect people to additional services
-
Partner with local police and other support services
We have an Amazon Wish List if you'd like to donate specific items. Click here.
